Apple Cinnamon Rolls

Living in Florida it sure doesn’t feel like Fall outside right now. I really miss the cooler days, colorful trees and cozy clothes. So, I have found myself decorating for Halloween way more than I ever have and making as many cozy recipes as possible. When you think of Fall, most of us think of apples and many of you are out apple picking (I’m jealous!). Apples with cinnamon are about as cozy as you can get! In this recipe I have made the classic cinnamon roll but added chopped apples to the filling to give them that extra touch of Fall that I am craving!

Apple Cinnamon Rolls

3/4 cup of milk

1/2 cup of sugar

1 tsp. salt

1 1/2 sticks of butter melted

2 packages of active dry yeast

1/3 cup of water @ 110 degrees

3 eggs

6 cups of flour (give or take a little)

1 large red apple peeled cored and finely chopped

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 cup od chopped walnuts (optional)

1/4 cup of brown sugar

Spray a muffin pan with non stick spray and set to the side. In a large mixing bowl or bowl of stand mixer, place the sugar, 1 stick of butter, milk and salt. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and then add to the bowl. Beat the eggs and add then as well. Mix all of the ingredients and then slowly start adding the flour a little at a time. Keep adding flour until the dough forms a ball. Knead the dough for about two minutes. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a clean dish towel and let it rise for about an hour. Turn the risen dough out onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle that measures about 2 feet long. In a small bowl combine the 1/2 stick of melted butter, brown sugar, apples, cinnamon and walnuts. Sprinkle the apple mixture across the dough and roll it from the long side to make about a 24 inch roll. Cut the roll in half and then each half into 6th so you have a dozen rolls. Place each roll into prepared muffin pan, cover again and let rise for about 40 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Once the dough has risen, place them in the oven to bake for about 25 minutes. When they come out of the oven remove them from the pan promptly so that they do not stick.

    Those rolls look mouth-watering
    Genevieve should make them for her bakery….they would sell out in a sec!
